Thinking about the upcoming school year!

Wow it's been a long time! I thought I would start blogging again because I do kind of miss it! So last year was my first year teaching 2nd grade and I had a blast! Overall I had a great year, although I have been thinking of many things I would like to change and do differently! 

A lot has changed in my life, I had a beautiful baby girl on May 16th so my entire summer has been dedicated to Ms. Paisley! Being a mom is amazing!! Since having Paisley I haven't thought a lot about school in fact it's been the last thing on my mind. Today I received an e-mail from my superintendent letting me know about an up coming work day so all day I have thinking a lot about my classroom. I am unable to get into my classroom due to maintenance issues is our building and I probably won't be able to get in until the first part of August. 

I want to change the arrangement of my classroom as well as make changes to my curriculum. So I guess I had better get to work!! 

Walking into my classroom

So today I walked into my classroom
For the first time! I thought I would go take some measurements because instead of using butcher paper on the bulletin boards I am going to use fabric!

Wow my classroom needs is need need of a lot of TLC!! After the holiday I plan on getting straight to work!!

Crafts for the classroom

So I have been hard at work... Making crafts for my very first classroom. I have seen teachers that have library book crates... and I loved the idea. So I made a super cute one!!! I got the crate at Michaels for $5, I used scrapbook paper and paint from my craft supplies and Bam...

I also used wood blocks from the wood connection in Murry Utah, to make the cute little sign that says "school" Again scrapbook paper and paint is all it took!

So the last thing I worked on was super cute altered clothes pins.... I plan on using these to hang up students work! I just used scrap pieces of scrapbook paper and glue!

Once I get my classroom put together I will post pictures with all my crafts!!!

I am super excited for my classroom... Can you tell???

Getting Ready for my first Classroom

Well I have to say that right now that I am feeling overwhelmed. I know it's only the end of June... and I have time to prepare for my first year as a teacher. But right know I am not sure where to start. I get my keys to my classroom next week, so I can begin working. I am really hoping everyone feels this way their first year of teaching.

I have been gathering stuff for the past year... like books, teacher supplies, classroom supplies ect... I still need to purchase things like a calendar, and bulltin board stuff.

If anyone has any advice for a first year teacher... I would really appreciate it.
